Microsoft Security Essentials 2 Beta

Microsoft has launched his new beta version of its lightweight Microsoft Security Essentials (MSSE). This next generation peace of software includes several new features:

· Enhanced protection for web-based threads
Microsoft Security Essentials has an enhanced integration with Internet Explorer which helps prevent malicious scripts from running and provides improved protection against web based attacks.

· Integration in Windows Firewall
There is now a better collaboration between MSSE and Windows Firewall. During setup, Microsoft Security Essentials will ask if you would like to turn the Windows Firewall on or off.

· Improved Protection Engine
The updated anti-malware engine offers enhanced detection and cleanup capabilities with better performance.

· Network Inspection System*
Better protection against network-based exploits.

* For Windows XP users this feature will not be enabled, because it requires Windows Filtering Platform which is only available for Vista and 7. All other beta features will still be possible to use.

This beta download is available only in English, Simplified Chinese, Hebrew, Brazilian and Portuguese. MSSE is a free and lightweight anti-malware application for protecting end users against any malicious software like virus or spyware threats. MSSE is designed to work on Windows XP, Vista and 7. Make sure you have your Microsoft Update preferences set to automatically download and install new updates for the spyware and virus definitions to update.
